Caspersen boardwalk under construction

Construction has started on a boardwalk and expansion project at Caspersen Beach Park.

The boardwalk is scheduled to be replaced in phases over the next six months. Stairways on the beach side of the boardwalk will also be replaced before the marine turtle nesting season starts May 1. At least two access points to the parking lot will remain open during construction

The north parking area will also be expanded in the project, which is part of the Sarasota County Economic Stimulus Program of fast track, capital improvement projects.
