BB&T appoints area execs

BB&T Corp., which significantly grew its Florida presence when it bought Colonial Bank last year, has hired two new executives for the Gulf Coast.

David Garbino, a senior vice president with the company, was named area executive for the Tampa Bay region, according to a bank press release. Garbino had been an area executive for the bank n Montgomery County, Md. He will now be based at the bank's new operations base in downtown Tampa.

Paul Dumke, meanwhile, was named BB&T's area executive for the bank's Gulf Coast and Southwest Florida regions. Dumke, also a senior vice president, will now be based at BB&T's offices in Holiday. He previously worked as senior vice president at Colonial Bank.

BB&T (NYSE:BBT) had $165.8 billion in assets at the end of 2009.
