SKYShades of SW Florida chosen by Yacht Club

SKYShades of Southwest Florida has been chosen as part of the construction team for the Sarasota Yacht Club's new clubhouse facility. SKYShades is supplying the 5,000-square-foot, custom-engineered tension-membrane structure that will shade the curved glass wall of the club's Neptune Bar & Lounge. The shade will create an outdoor venue for regattas and other events, and provide a visual signature for the facility. Engineered to withstand 90-mph wind loads, the white, sail-shaped structure will filter up to 98% of the sun's rays.

SKYShades of Southwest Florida also is custom-engineering three PVC-fabric cabanas for the club's pool area, a covered walkway structure and the custom barreled main-lobby roof.

The four shades are just part of the 14-month-long construction project, which began with the demolition of the clubhouse last month. The new 23,500-square-foot clubhouse, designed in a coastal contemporary style, will replace the 57-year-old building on Ringling Causeway.
