A Bradenton manufacturer has acquired a Massachusetts oil containment company. Aer-Flo Environmental — which makes turbidity barriers and other environmental containment solutions — purchased the assets and brand of Spilldam Environmental, which produces custom turbidity barriers, oil containment booms and specialized environmental containment products. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Spilldam Environmental, which launched in the 1960s and is based in Brockton, Massachusetts, is known for developing engineered solutions for complex, project-specific applications, according to a statement. It specializes in storm turbidity barriers, oil containment booms, baffle systems and related solutions for marine construction, environmental remediation and water treatment applications.
The acquisition brings together Aer-Flo’s high-volume manufacturing and delivery capabilities and distributor network with Spilldam’s ability to provide custom solutions, the statement says.
“Aer-Flo has earned customers’ trust through dependable manufacturing and fast delivery, while Spilldam brings decades of specialized design and problem-solving experience,” Mike Fern, president of Eichrom Holding Corp., the parent company of Aer-Flo Environmental, says in the statement. “By combining those strengths, we can address a wider range of containment challenges and develop solutions around what customers actually need.”
Aer-Flo, founded in 1981, is known for its Tough Guy line of barriers. Among other products, it also manufactures erosion and sediment control solutions and oil spill containment products.
Spilldam will transition its production to Aer-Flo’s facility at 4455 18th St. E. in Bradenton. The company's former owner, Tim Prevost, will remain actively involved with Aer-Flo, bringing his technical expertise and longstanding customer relationships to his role as senior advisor in product engineering and innovation, according to the statement.
“At Spilldam, we’ve built our business by listening to our customers and developing solutions around the challenges they face,” Prevost says in a statement. “Joining Aer-Flo gives us an opportunity to build on those relationships and bring even more experience and resources to the table. I’m excited to remain involved, continue working with our customers and collaborate with the Aer-Flo team to find the right solution for every project.”
