Lake Michigan Credit Union has opened its 23rd branch in Florida — this time in Hillsborough County’s Valrico community.

LMCU’s new Valrico branch, at 3467 Lithia Pinecrest Road, announced its grand opening May 1 and is the bank’s 75th branch overall.

The Valrico location was chosen due to the “tremendous growth” LMCU has seen in the Tampa Bay area and underscores the bank’s commitment to growth across Central Florida, LMCU President and CEO Julie Leonard says in a release.

“We’re thrilled to bring our member-first approach to this growing area — and everything that comes with it, from great rates and products to local jobs and community involvement,” Leonard says in the release.

The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based credit union was established in 1993 and has since become the largest credit union in Michigan and the 13th largest in the country. The credit union employs a staff of more than 1,800 and serves more than 645,000 members.

“Valrico is a wonderful community, and I couldn’t be more excited to help our neighbors reach their financial goals — whether that’s growing their savings, buying a home, or just finding a financial partner they can truly count on,” says LMCU Branch Market Leader for Valrico Mary Boyd in the release.

LMCU provides a full range of financial services to customers, from high-interest-bearing checking accounts to personal loans, mortgages, business banking, investments and insurance. LMCU’s assets exceed $15 billion, with more than $17 billion in portfolio and serviced mortgages.
