A new partnership between regional grocer Winn Dixie and tech giant Amazon could change the way Floridians buy groceries in Tampa Bay.
The Jacksonville-based grocery chain announced Wednesday that customers living in the Greater Tampa Bay area are now able to get their groceries delivered through Winn-Dixie’s new partnership with Amazon.com — a collaboration that began last September in select markets throughout the state.
Customers now can go on Amazon, order groceries from Winn-Dixie and have them delivered the same day, according to a release.
Winn-Dixie grocery delivery by Amazon is now available to customers in Hillsborough, Pasco, North Pinellas, Polk, Manatee and Sarasota counties, including Tampa, Brandon, Plant City, Tarpon Springs, Port Richey, Lakeland, Bradenton, Sarasota and surrounding communities.
In addition to shopping Amazon’s selection of products, customers in participating areas can also select from more than 15,000 Winn-Dixie grocery items including fresh produce, meats, private-label brands and locally-sourced products.
“Our continued partnership brings together Winn-Dixie’s trusted neighborhood stores—known for low prices, fresh quality groceries and trusted Own Brand products—with Amazon’s unmatched delivery experience,” says Gayle Shields, Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer for The Winn-Dixie Co., in the release.
Following a successful launch in Jacksonville and Orlando last year, the service has grown to include nearly 100 cities and towns across Florida and southern Georgia. This multi-phase expansion now serves areas including Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville, Sarasota-Bradenton, Destin-Fort Walton Beach, West Palm Beach and Valdosta through participating Winn-Dixie stores with Amazon’s signature delivery services.
Winn-Dixie Rewards members can link their accounts to their Amazon account to earn rewards points on eligible purchases. Those points can be redeemed for dollars off future in-store purchases at Winn-Dixie, the release says.
Amazon Prime members can receive $15 off orders of $75 or more when shopping Winn-Dixie products on Amazon with code WDSPRING15 through April 14. For a limited time, both Prime members and non-Prime customers can also enjoy free delivery on Winn-Dixie orders over $25 within a two-hour delivery window.
Customers can shop Winn-Dixie and check delivery availability in their area by visiting Amazon.com/WinnDixie or using the Amazon shopping app.
