A nearly 40,000-square foot, 40-bed hospital has broken ground in Hillsborough County’s Riverview area, providing post-acute inpatient rehabilitation care to the rapidly growing corridor.
Minneapolis-based commercial real estate firm Ryan Companies US, Inc. is partnering with Garland, Texas-based Exalt Health to build the Exalt Health Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital at 6810 Simmons Loop in Riverview, near the new BayCare St. Joseph’s South Hospital.
The new hospital is slated to open in late summer 2027.
Exalt Health, founded in 2022, is known for its team-based approach to treating individuals with neurological, musculoskeletal, rheumatic, cardiovascular and other complex conditions, according to a statement. Its inpatient rehabilitation programs include joint replacement therapy, arthritis care, stroke recovery, pain management, wound care and more — all tailored to the unique needs of the patient.
“This new inpatient rehabilitation hospital will deliver critical healthcare infrastructure where it is sorely needed, and Ryan’s breadth of expertise in the region is an asset on this project,” Jeff Crawford, chief development officer and chief operations officer at Exalt Health, says in the release.
The Riverview hospital is part of Ryan’s growing national healthcare portfolio and increases the company’s presence in Florida, where the company has built numerous projects over the past two decades including Brandon Gateway Medical Plaza in Hillsborough County’s Brandon area.
Ryan will also serve as the general contractor and property manager for the new hospital. The project team also includes architect E4H Architecture and civil engineer Kimley-Horn.
