Heritage Golf Group, a Virginia-based owner-operator of golf and country clubs, has added a second Tampa Bay area course to its growing portfolio.

Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville is the fourth and final club Heritage Golf Group has purchased throughout Florida, according to a Tuesday announcement. Heritage acquired the club from managing partner MG Orender, but financial terms for the sale were not disclosed.

The purchase follows Heritage’s recent acquisitions of The Plantation Golf & Country Club in Fort Myers, Country Club of Ocala and The Palencia Club in St. Augustine, which closed in late October, the release says. The new additions bring the number of golf and lifestyle clubs in Heritage’s portfolio to 47 nationwide, including 13 in Florida.

Among those Florida clubs is Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz and TPC Prestancia in Sarasota.

“It has been a pleasure working with MG Orender and the Hampton Golf Group team across these four successful acquisitions,” Jim Oliver, Chief Operating Officer of Heritage Golf Group, says in the release. “The addition of Southern Hills Plantation Club further strengthens our presence in Florida—now totaling 13 clubs, including 10 along the state’s West Coast.”

Southern Hills Plantation Club, which also serves as a wedding and event venue, has a private, 18-hole golf course designed by architect Pete Dye along with four tennis courts, four pickleball courts, a fitness center and a resort-style pool.

The Heritage team is in discussion about making additional capital improvements to the club, the release says, all of which will be guided by member feedback. These could include improved amenities, operations and programming. Members of the club can also join the Heritage Plus Network, which affords gold members access to other participating Heritage clubs, the release says.

Heritage Golf Group oversees a network of clubs in 15 states, the release says. The company’s growth strategy centers on acquiring a mix of private country clubs in residential communities, member-owned clubs with growth potential, and premium daily-fee and resort golf properties in resort destinations and metropolitan markets.
