Sarasota Doctors Hospital names new COO

HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital has added a new member to its leadership team. Olivia Velasquez has been named COO for the private medical center on Bee Ridge Road.

Velasquez comes to Sarasota Doctors Hospital from Tennessee, where she was employed by the parent company of HCA Florida, HCA Healthcare, as vice president of operations and ethics and compliance officer at HCA Healthcare’s TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage. In her role there, she oversaw clinical and ancillary departments, managed capital projects and led regulatory surveys.

"Olivia brings a strong track record in operations, quality and service," HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital says in a statement.

Before working at HCA Healthcare’s TriStar Summit Medical Center, Velasquez was associate administrator at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee, where she led many departments and managed key growth and performance initiatives.

Velasquez is a graduate of the HCA Healthcare Executive Development program. She has a bachelor’s degree in health science and a master’s degree in health systems management from Rush University in Chicago.

HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital is a 155-bed private facility. The hospital named a new chief medical officer in 2025 and a new CEO in 2024 following the previous CEO’s retirement after nearly two decades.
