A Miami-based pediatric health care organization has acquired a pediatric practice in Bradenton. Pediatrica Health Group did not disclose the terms of its acquisition of Scarano and Taylor Pediatrics.
Dr. Joseph Scarano and Dr. Adilia Florentina Taylor operate the practice, located at 4861 27th St. W. in south Bradenton. Both doctors are involved in pediatric research, are American Academy of Pediatrics fellows and are Florida State University College of Medicine faculty.
Scarano has served as the chief of pediatrics at HCA Florida Blake Hospital, Manatee Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Taylor helped develop a novel high-frequency ventilator for premature newborns, has co-authored articles in professional journals and was a principal investigator for a major American Heart Association research grant, according to a statement.
“Dr. Taylor and Dr. Scarano have a rich history in clinical research and a passion to continually work toward better outcomes for the families they serve,” Pediatrica CEO Roberto Palenzuela says in the statement.
The doctors’ work fits with Pediatrica Health Group’s dedication to “steadily learning and evolving care to help kids be healthy and grow into healthy adults,” Palenzuela says.
With the acquisition, Scarano and Taylor will be relieved of the administrative responsibilities related to running the business, according to a statement, which says they will be able to focus on listening, learning and introducing new best practices.
The business is now called Pediatrica of South Bradenton, according to the Pediatrica Health Group website. Other Pediatrica Health Group practices in the region are Pediatrica of Laurel Park in Sarasota (formerly Meyer Pediatrics) and Pediatrica of Lakewood Ranch (previously Capote Pediatrics).
