The Hampton Inn Tampa East has been sold to KMD Hospitality Management, a local hotel owner and operator.

The hotel is at 11740 Tampa Gateway Blvd., just off of Interstate 4 and about 5 miles east of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Berkadia Hotel & Hospitality, which announced the sale, did not disclose a sale price, but Hillsborough County records show that it sold for $9.65 million.

The previous owner, the Liberty Group, paid $4.25 million for the property in 2012, according to county property records.

The 74-unit hotel was built in 2005 and completely renovated about two years ago.

KMD was founded in 1997 with the purchase of a Days Inn. The company says on its website that over the years it has developed, bought and managed both limited service and full-service hotels.

Its online portfolio shows that it currently operates five local properties, including two in Zephyrhills (a Quality Inn and a Hampton Inn); two in Oldsmar (a Residence Inn and Courtyard by Marriott); and one Brandon (a Country Inn & Suites by Radisson).

Berkadia’s Kyle Sahlsten represented Liberty in the sale.
