After announcing last month that the company would be acquiring a marina in Marathon, Florida, MarineMax has officially closed the deal. Shelter Bay Marine, a full-service marina and storage facility, now counts itself as one of 65 such facilities under the MarineMax company umbrella. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The acquisition of Shelter Bay Marine strategically expands our presence in the Middle Keys, strengthening our ability to serve boaters across the region,” Brett McGill, the CEO and president of MarineMax says in a statement. “We welcome Shelter Bay’s experienced team to the MarineMax family as we continue to execute on our long-term growth and margin enhancement strategy.”

Shelter Bay Marine is located on the Atlantic side of the Middle Keys near mile marker 54.2. It offers direct ocean access with no bridge height limitations and can store up to 175 boats according to the release. In a previous release, McGill noted its location in the Middle Keys would strengthen the company’s presence there.

MarineMax is a $2.4 billion company founded by Bill McGill. It has 120 locations worldwide, including over 70 dealerships and 65 marina and storage facilities. It was founded in Clearwater in 1998.
