When Wilderness at the Smokies set out to expand its indoor waterpark in Sevierville, Tennessee, they needed more than a builder—they needed a partner who could deliver a complex vision without disrupting a busy, operating resort. Holtz Builders, Inc. (HBI) took on the challenge, transforming 40,000 square feet into an immersive guest experience, completed on time, under budget, and with award-winning results.

The $31.4 million project included the Kaleidoscope Kavern — a lazy river tunnel outfitted with dreamlike lighting and sound — the Ridge Runner water coaster, and The Peak Rooftop Bar and Eatery, complete with a 22,000-gallon infinity pool and cabanas. Every detail, from hand-painted rockwork to complex rooftop construction, was designed and executed with precision. HBI managed the design-build process from start to finish, bringing together architects, engineers, and trades to deliver an experience as functional as it is breathtaking.

With tight site constraints and an active resort just feet away, HBI coordinated daily material deliveries, crane operations, and multi-trade crews to keep the schedule moving and guests safe. Innovative value engineering kept aesthetics high and costs controlled, while jobsite safety plans protected both workers and vacationers — earning Holtz Builders the 2024 Projects of Distinction Eagle Award from the ABC Tennessee Chapter.
