Manatee County medical manufacturing company acquired

A Minnesota medical device supplier has acquired a Manatee County company that provides ophthalmic surgical products. Innovia Medical purchased Hurricane Medical for an undisclosed price.

Hurricane Medical manufactures items like single-use ophthalmic surgical devices, such as microsurgery accessories, anesthesia needles and ophthalmic sponges, among other products, according to its website. Based on Lena Road, near the intersection of Interstate 70 and State Road 70, Hurricane Medical was founded in 1999.

Innovia Medical is a “family of specialty surgical companies” that is headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, and serves more than 70 countries, according to its website. Its specialties include ear, nose and throat; ophthalmology; aesthetic and reconstructive; single-use instruments; and sterile processing.
