The Hoffmann Family of Cos. is at it again.
The Naples — and Chicago and St. Louis — based prolific buyers of businesses is developing a new golf course on the site of the Old Corkscrew Golf Club, which it bought in 2022 for $14.5 million.
The company hired golf course architect Kyle Phillips to design the Estero course, previously a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design and 7,400 yards.
The new course is expected to measure approximately 7,100 yards, with a tentative par of 71, the company says in a statement.
The club, in the early stages with permitting underway, is planning for a 2027 opening.
The redesigned course is separate from the Hoffmann’s other local course, the Old Collier Golf Club, which it bought in 2021.
The Hoffmann Family of Cos. owns 120 companies in 30 countries and employs 17,000 people. The family run business has interests in agriculture, aviation and transportation, financial and professional services, hospitality and entertainment, manufacturing, marine, media and marketing, and real estate.
Earlier this month, on Aug. 5, it announced the purchase of Ponchatoula, Louisiana-based Elmer Chocolate, a seasonal chocolatiers and manufacturer of small heart-shaped chocolate boxes.
And a few days before that, on July 29, Hoffmann announced it had bought Atlanta Party Rentals, which it described as a “family-run business renowned for its premium event rental services —from elegant seating and tents to staging and décor.”
