A 16,114-square-foot house in rural Hillsborough County has been put up for sale.

The asking price: $38.5 million.

That is not a typographical error. The Odessa house is at 18725 Jiretz Road and sit on 4.42 acres fronting Island Ford Lake. It was built in 2024.

County records show the property is currently owned by a trust that paid $450,000 for the site in 2020.

According to the listing from Re/Max Champions, the resort-style house was designed by architect Phil Kean and shows “unparalleled craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail, with no expense spared in every aspect of the home.”

The Phil Kean Design Group is a Winter Park-based firm that specializes in new homes, whole home remodels, kitchen remodels and interior design services. According to its website, qualifying projects must meet a minimum budget of $2.5 million for a new home, $1 million for a remodel, $180,000 for a kitchen remodel and $100,000 for an interior design.

As for the Odessa house, it has six bedrooms, seven full and three half bathrooms and a six-car garage with ceilings high enough to allow for car lifts.

It is fully enclosed by a stone wall with gate access equipped with facial recognition at the main entry and a separate service entrance.

Other features include a movie theater, infinity pool, tennis and pickleball courts, a guest house and a 4,200-square-foot covered lanai.

Another unique feature is the price point.

Unlike Sarasota and, especially, Naples, Hillsborough hasn’t yet seen a big swath of houses listed for more than $10 million. In fact, realtor.com on Wednesday showed that currently there are 11 houses, including this one, in the county listed over that threshold.

In comparison, Sarasota has 24 on the website priced higher than $10 million and Naples has 189.

Christian Bennett of Re/Max Champions is the listing agent.
