Lee County pays $10.5 million to conserve 132 acres

Lee County commissioners OK'd the $10.54 million purchase of 132-acres in east Fort Myers to be set aside for conservation. The property, two parcels, is being bought as part of the county’s Conservation 20/20 Land Acquisition program. Purchases include:
$10.5 million for 129.56 acres southeast of Orange River Boulevard and Staley Road in Buckingham. The land is made up of mesic hammock, pine flatwoods, basin swamp, strand swamp, hydric hammock and improved pasture, according to a statement.
$4,250 for 2.5 acres in the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed. The land is south of Sand Road and there is no improved access to the land.
