One airline is adding eight flights to its roster of offerings at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), bringing the total number of flights offered at the airport to nearly 70.
Allegiant Air will provide nonstop service to the following destinations in February 2025:
Plans are in place to help educate people in those destinations about Sarasota, according to President and CEO of Visit Sarasota County Erin Duggan. As part of an "airline incentive plan," she says, her marketing and sales departments penetrate the market for each new flight.
"We're making sure the folks on the other side know that there is a flight to our community, and know everything that our community has to offer," Duggan says, speaking at the Nov. 19 Indicators and Insights Summit hosted by Visit Sarasota County, which recapped 2024 efforts and previewed 2025 plans to promote tourism in the area.
The announcement of the new flights comes as SRQ prepares to open a new concourse in January, with all five gates leased to Allegiant Air.
“As we approach the grand opening of our new Concourse A, we are excited to see Allegiant expand their routes to include eight new nonstop destinations,” Rick Piccolo, president and CEO of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, says in a statement. “This will bring the number of nonstop Allegiant destinations at SRQ to 35, and the total number of nonstop destinations served by all airlines at SRQ to 67.”
Allegiant Air rolled out a total of 44 new nonstop routes nationwide in its Nov. 19 announcement, with SRQ receiving more new flights than any other airport. Other routes that Allegiant added in the region are between Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) and Chattanooga, Tennessee (CHA) starting Feb. 13; as well as between St. Pete Clearwater International Airport (PIE) and Colorado Springs, Colorado (COS), starting Feb. 14.
Promotional fares start as low as $49 one-way for some of the routes.
