The Bay Area Manufacturers Association says it named Andrew McCutchen as president, according to a Monday news release.
McCutchen is the founder and president of Baymar Solutions, a product development and contract manufacturing firm specializing in highly regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace and defense.
McCutchen has mechanical engineering degree from the University of Arizona and has been in the manufacturing and product development since 2002. He started Baymar Solutions in 2006, according to the association.
The association says his team has "successfully grown to more than just an engineering solution provider by vertically integrating contract manufacturing in-house, which provides their customers with shorter lead times and higher quality."
Manufacturing in Florida's manufacturing output has grown from $43.5 billion in 2014 to $73 billion in 2022, resulting in a 67.8% growth rate over nine years, according to statistics cited by the association via FloridaCommerce, the state business agency.
The association also reported that the Tampa Bay area reports a manufacturing output of $14.7 billion, with 3,535 manufacturers and 68,061 jobs, throughout Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties.
"Andrew's deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing manufacturers in the Tampa Bay area will power his strategic vision and commitment to fostering collaboration among industry stakeholders," the association says in a statement.
The association says it is part of the FloridaMakes Network of regional manufacturing associations "working to unlock growth opportunities and cost savings for Florida manufacturers." It provides a forum to exchange ideas and share best practice information, as well networking and learning about manufacturing-related topics through educational programs and tours.
The association also supports STEM programs and offers scholarships to students pursuing manufacturing and STEM education.
