St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) says its September traffic was up 8.4% over September 2022, giving the Pinellas County airport its biggest September ever.

PIE airport officials say the airport saw 143,196 passengers, with domestic passengers up 9% over 2022's record-breaking September. Currently, PIE has no international flights.

About 1.9 million people have come through PIE from Jan. 1 through the end of September, up 1.4%, indicating 2023's numbers are on pace to break 2022's record.

At Tampa International Airport, officials say they saw an 18% increase in September, with a 17% increase in domestic passengers from September 2022 and a 42% increase in international passengers from September 2022.

In total, 1.61 million domestic passengers came through TPA in September, up from 1.38 million in September 2022. And 81,000 international passengers used TPA in September, up from 57,000 a year ago, TPA officials say.
