HF Scientific, which makes instrumentation, test kits and chemical reagents used for monitoring water quality, has named a new operations leader and plant manager for its Fort Myers facility.

The new operations leader, Curtis Burks, will be responsible for planning, direction and controlling operational activities, including safe production and shipment of precision instruments and related chemistries at HF Scientific, according to a statement. “His role is critical to improving and promoting the continuous improvement of culture, safety, quality, cost control and customer service,” the company adds in the release.

Burks most recently was with Honeywell International Inc. as a senior plant manager.

HF Scientific, with multiple patents, has clients worldwide that use its instrumentation, test kits and chemical reagents for monitoring water quality in a variety of applications. The company’s primary market focuses on marine ballast water systems that help eliminate the damaging effects of invasive species in the environment. Its products can also be found in municipal drinking and wastewater treatment applications.

The company is a brand of Watts, a North Andover, Massachusetts-based global leader of flow control, water quality and drainage solutions for commercial, residential, industrial, and municipal settings. Watts had $1.98 billion in sales in 2022.
