Squaremouth, a travel insurance marketplace headquartered in St. Petersburg, has hired Rupa Mehta as its new CEO, succeeding Jessica Burns.

According to a news release, Mehta brings more than 16 years of executive leadership experience to the role, having previously worked for Angi and Groupon. At Squaremouth, she’ll guide and oversee the company’s strategic initiatives and growth opportunities and build upon Squaremouth’s employee- and customer-centric culture.

“Squaremouth’s impressive product capabilities and customer-led approach make them uniquely positioned to capture tremendous growth opportunities within the travel space,” Mehta states in the release. “I am thrilled to be joining the team.”

Squaremouth’s travel insurance quoting and comparison engine, the release states, has helped more than three million customers obtain travel insurance since the company was founded in 2003.

“We believe comparison shopping will continue to guide consumer behavior. Our breadth of insurance offerings, commitment to a seamless user experience, and award-winning support have placed us at the forefront of our industry,” Squaremouth Founder and Chief Information Officer Matt Outten states in the release. “Rupa’s proven experience in marketplace environments make her an exciting and complementary addition to our leadership team. As we celebrate 20 years in business, we look forward to continued success under her guidance.”
