St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, also known by its airport code, PIE, welcomed 11% more travelers in February 2023 compared to the same month a year ago.

The uptick in traffic was driven, in part, by Swoop Airlines, a discount carrier based in Calgary, Alberta, that’s a subsidiary of WestJet. According to a news release, 3,742 travelers arrived and/or departed via Swoop, a 95% increase over February 2022.

Domestic flights, meanwhile, accounted for 184,889 arrivals and departures, the release states.

PIE serves 63 destinations with nonstop flights offered primarily by Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air.
