Detroit Wing Co. has opened its first Florida location at 5006 E. Fowler St. in Tampa, across from the University of South Florida campus.

The restaurant opened on Feb. 18 and featured an opportunity for the first 25 customers to enter a competition whose grand prize is free chicken wings for an entire year.

According to a news release, Detroit Wing Co. is one of Michigan’s highest-rated chicken wing restaurant chains and has been featured in Esquire, Men’s Health, Buzzfeed News and MSNBC. It’s known for all-natural chicken wings that are made with no preservatives, no artificial flavoring and no MSG, as well as its poutine and macaroni and cheese and poutine.

The restaurant chain’s sauces are homemade, and the Tampa location will feature a special “Florida sauce,” the release states.

“We are thrilled to open our first Detroit Wing Company location in Tampa,” local franchisee Alex Merturi states in the release. “Expanding into this great city is an honor for us, and we’re ready to serve our world-class wings to the Tampa Bay area!”

Detroit Wing Co. was founded in Eastpoint, Michigan, in 2015, and now has 30 locations, 28 of which are in Michigan. It opened its 29th restaurant in Ohio before expanding to Florida.
