SARASOTA — Take a bite out of this: Bite Squad, a local delivery service company, is expanding by 200 contract positions.

The Minnesota-based food app has been delivering around Sarasota since 2017. The concept, similar to Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub, is focused around delivering food from local restaurants. Now the app is looking to hire drivers who are needing a new job or side gig.

Drivers will be able to start immediately as long as they provide a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance and a smartphone during the application process. The head of driver operations, Chris Barnes, notes that flexible schedules are available for drivers. Additionally, the company offers no-contact delivery to enhance safety for drivers and customers.

“We strive to provide quality service to our restaurant partners and diners," says Carl Grimstad, chair and CEO, "while also focusing on our recruiting and retention efforts to ensure that our independent contractor driver base remains at appropriate levels to meet delivery demands."
