Tampa accountant sentenced to federal prison for hiring hitman

DeAnna Marie Stinson turned to the dark web to find a killer and paid in bitcoin.

A 51-year-old Tampa accountant will spend more than six years in federal prison for hiring a hitman on the dark web and paying him with bitcoin.

DeAnna Marie Stinson was sentenced to six years and six months by U.S. District Judge Steven  Merryday after pleading guilty to the charge in January, about a month before her trial was scheduled. Stinson, who had faced 10 years in prison, was also ordered to pay $11,402.22 in restitution and a $1,000 fine.
