From shovel to Slurpees, builder gulps more work for client

7-Eleven found Creighton Development in 2010 for a rush job. The go-to builder for the convenience store giant recently completed eight projects.

During the depths of the 2007-2009 recession, 7-Eleven convenience stores went searching for a commercial developer to build stores in Southwest Florida and found Cape Coral-based Creighton Construction & Development was still in business. Since then, Creighton has been a go-to contractor, building and remodeling locations in multiple states.

“We did a small development for 7-Eleven in 2010,” Creighton Development founder and CEO Dan Creighton tells Coffee Talk. “I got a call from one of the higher-ups in October, and he says we have to have this store open by the end of the year. That was no joke. We delivered that thing from groundbreaking to serving Slurpees in 65 days, and we went on to do another one in 58 days.”
