TAMPA — Endurance sports company Ironman announced Wednesday it will expand its Tampa headquarters by 10,000 square feet and hire as many as 70 new workers by next year.

Ironman has been based in Tampa since 1989 and currently employs 160 people. Known for triathlons and other endurance-based athletic events held around the world, the company is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2018.
