Report: Tampa tech salaries are mediocre

Tech salaries in Florida are lower than many other states, survey shows.

The Tampa Bay area tech scene might be thriving in terms of employee growth and corporate expansions, but the average annual pay scale, at least compared nationally, is lacking.

The Tampa -St. Petersburg-Clearwater MSA had an average tech employee salary of $83,550 a year in 2017, according to a new survey from business.org, a financial analysis website. While that salary is considerably higher than the overall average salary in Florida and the Tampa MSA, in the land of tech, it’s mediocre, at best. At that salary, for example, Tampa-St. Pete-Clearwater is No. 52 nationally.
