Symphony strums new fundraiser

The Southwest Florida Symphony named well-known area philanthropy and nonprofit executive leader Barbara Wells director of development.

Wells, with 25 years experience in arts and culture, is responsible for the development and management of the organization's fundraising programs. “We are all thrilled to have sophisticated and experienced development support on the symphony's staff,” says Southwest Florida Symphony Executive Director Amy Ginsburg in a statement. “Barbara brings a wealth of knowledge and a sparkling personality to work every day.

Wells was most recently director of development for BIG ARTS on Sanibel. Other past roles include heading up alumni relations and major gifts at Florida Southwestern State College, according to the statement. Wells is on the board of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, the scholarship awards committee of the Uncommon Friends Foundation and Chrysalis Awards and the Cape Coral Community Foundation Giving Alliance.
