SARASOTA — Dennis Stover, regional vice chancellor for university advancement at the University of Sarasota-Manatee, announced this week that he will retire Sept. 3.

Stover has served on USFSM's leadership team since March 2012, a statement says. He has overseen fundraising activities, communications, marketing and foundational goals.

Since joining the college, Stover helped increase the campus' endowed funds from $5.7 million to $9.2 million, the statement says. He also raised private funds to open USFSM's teaching labs at Mote Marine Laboratory.

Prior to joining USFSM, Stover worked as vice president of philanthropy at the New College Foundation and as senior vice president for development at Senior Friendship Centers in Sarasota. He has more than 30 years leadership experience at nonprofit organizations and foundations.

The university will begin its nationwide search to replace Stover in July, the statement says.
