Sarasota native Andrew Greenwell was so amped to start a career in real estate that he launched a firm in 2002, when he was a Florida State sophomore. He would fly or drive between Tallahassee and Sarasota to close deals. He constantly worked the phones from campus — sometimes during classes.

That zest for real estate still holds, and Greenwell is about to get some national attention for his work. Now based in San Francisco and focusing on residential properties, Greenwell is one of the stars of the new Bravo TV show “Million Dollar Listing San Francisco.” The show, scheduled to debut July 8, is part of Bravo's successful Million Dollar Listing franchise.

The CEO and principal at Venture Sotheby's International Realty, Greenwell says taping for the show began last year. A crew followed him through work and his personal life for eight months, usually for two or three days a week. “It was enjoyable,” Greenwell tells Coffee Talk, “but it was a lot of work” having camera crews around.

Greenwell says in addition to the exposure for his business, the show is a good way to give people an insider's look at high-end, high-stakes real estate. “The deals are very real,” he says. “They are all authentic.”

A graduate of Riverview High School in Sarasota, Greenwell comes from a real estate-focused entrepreneurial family. His mom, Wendy Mack, was a longtime executive with Sarasota-based construction firm DooleyMack and now runs another area firm, DM Constructors. And Greenwell's co-founder of the commercial brokerage and property management venture he started in college, Corporate Realty Group, is his aunt, Debra Mack Schrock.

That business grew to three locations and handled more than $10 million a year in sales at its peak. Greenwell was named to Realtor Magazine's list of the top 30 Realtors in America under 30 for his accomplishments there. Greenwell then moved to Seattle, and worked there in real estate. In 2011 he relocated to San Francisco. He worked for Keller Williams in the San Francisco Bay area, where he oversaw a team of more than 150 agents, before he teamed up with Sotheby's.
