The people behind the Columbia Restaurant chain, moving forward on a mission to restore the Goody Goody brand in Tampa, have taken to Facebook for help in a big part of the project: site location.
The company, run by prominent Tampa restaurateur Richard Gonzmart, president of the Columbia Restaurant Group, launched a quirky social media contest in a Jan. 3 Facebook post. The contest follows the purchase Gonzmart made of the iconic Goody Goody name last year. Founded in 1925, Goody Goody developed a cult following in Tampa, mostly over its burgers and pies. The last Goody Goody location closed in 2005.
“Now we're looking for a location,” the post states. “And you can help. Where do you think the first Goody Goody should be? The old Army Navy Store on Florida? The new Hyde Park Village? Howard Avenue in South Tampa? Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa?”
Authors of the best/most interesting/most creative real estate suggestions, the post says, will receive an invitation to join the official Goody Goody Tasting Team. Decisions of the judges, the post adds, “are arbitrary, whimsical and final.”
