Validus Group sells affiliates for $80M

TAMPA — Validus Group has sold two of its affiliated companies, Validus Strategic Capital Partners and Strategic Capital Advisory Services, to financial advisory services firm RCS Capital Corp. for $80 million. The sale includes additional bonus money based on the entities' financial performance following the sale.

Validus Strategic Capital Partners owns SC Distributors LLC, which serves as a platform for alternative investments (investments that aren't based around stocks, bonds and/or cash). Strategic Capital Advisory Services offers advisory and operating services to non-exchange traded alternative investment entities.

Mario Garcia Jr., CEO and managing partner of Validus Group, says moving forward, the company will make more investments in Validus Senior Living, which owns a portfolio of senior multifamily properties in Florida.
