PLANS, DESCRIPTION:
Canadian developer Vandyk Group of Cos. purchased about 6.06 acres of waterfront land on Cortez Village just before the bridge to Bradenton Beach for $4 million.

The price equated to $659,826 per acre.

The property included the two-story 20,000-square-foot Seafood Shack Restaurant and Marina with a banquet hall and boat slips and Annie's Bait & Tackle.

John Vandyk, president and chief executive of the Vandyk Group of Cos. declined to comment on the purchase.

Hamlin Jones previously owned all five of the parcels.

The U.S. office of the Vandyk Group of Cos. is currently focused on developing One88 Residences, a five-story eight-unit condominium building on Golden Gate Point, and a future mixed-used project at 635 S. Orange Ave., Sarasota in Burns Square.
