Tampa innovation center plans incubator

LARGO — The Tampa Bay Innovation Center, which helps spur innovation and entrepreneurship in the technology sector, plans to open a new incubator in St. Petersburg, named TEC Garage.

According to a statement, the center hopes to launch TEC Garage, which stands for Technology and Entrepreneurship Center, in August.

The incubator will house 15 to 30 startups in 6,200 square feet on the first floor of the St. Petersburg College Downtown Center. TEC Garage will host businesses in a mix of sectors, including science, technology, engineering, arts and digital media. The center will rent out office and coworking space and provide resources such as mentors, coaches, education and networking to help the startups.
