FORT MYERS — U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson is scheduled to celebrate the groundbreaking of 212 affordable-housing units here this afternoon.
The Housing Authority of the city of Fort Myers, in partnership with Miami-based residential developer Pinnacle Housing Group, will start redevelopment of two existing buildings near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Interstate 75.
One building will be demolished to make way for a new residential structure called East Pointe Place, which will contain 86 apartments. The other building will be gutted and named Landings at East Pointe. Landings will have 126 apartments.
