Rental-car business turning up

John Jung, the CEO and senior managing director of BB&T Capital Markets, travels all over the country to meet with clients and make presentations.

In his recent travels, Jung says he found one positive sign in the car-rental market. “The last four cars all had less than 1,000 miles on them,” he told a gathering of the Real Estate Investment Society in Fort Myers recently.

Jung's conclusion is that rental-car companies are seeing an improvement in their business, much like many other companies across the country.

The point illustrated his theme that the national economy is improving, boosted by rising consumer spending, high corporate earnings and increasing credit availability.
