Former Cape mayor joins Wright Construction

Jim Burch, the former mayor of Cape Coral, recently joined the Fort Myers-based Wright Construction Group as vice president of business development.


A surveyor by trade, Burch says he's happy to be back in the business world. He served as mayor of Cape Coral during the city's most challenging years from 2007 to 2009, when the bedroom community in Lee County was devastated by the foreclosure crisis.


Burch knows the area well, having surveyed most of the land around the new terminal at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, for example.


Wright is a commercial contractor that has built government facilities, office buildings, apartments and schools.
