Scott names Miles DMS secretary

Jack Miles is Florida's newest secretary of the Department of Management Services (DMS) following his appointment by Gov. Rick Scott this week. DMS oversees the delivery of support and services to local governments throughout the state.

Miles comes to his newest position from CIGNA, where he served as a senior director. He created savings of more than $80 million over 20 months of cost cutting, a release from the governor's office explains. Miles is also the former chief procurement officer for American International Group (AIG).

Miles replaces Linda South, who had served as the department's head since Jan. 2007.
