Better-looking people a sign of recovery?

Spending on plastic surgery rebounded last year after slipping in 2009, and a Tampa doctor who specializes in facial procedures predicts even more money will go toward nips and tucks this year as people start feeling better financially.

“In our own practice, we've seen a solid increase in all procedures from eyelifts to facelifts and, of course, fillers,” Dr. Richard Castellano of Image Lift tells Coffee Talk. His Henderson Boulevard office noted a 20% increase in head and neck procedures over the past year.

“It makes perfect sense to think there is a correlation between happy people and an improving economy,” Castellano says. “The better people feel about themselves, the more likely they'll have the confidence to go for their dream job or even treat themselves to a new wardrobe.”
