Local plumber takes ethics award

The Sarasota Business Ethics Alliance, a group formed last spring to recognize local companies with outstanding integrity and principles, recently presented its first-ever Business Ethics Award to Sarasota-based Aqua Plumbing & Air.


John Miller founded Aqua in 1974, when it was just Miller and a truck. Now the company has 75 trucks and 90 employees.


A key to the company's ethics is its employee handbook, which is just one page. The page lists five key points for every employee, which includes accountability, quality and trust. Miller, after he accepted the award at a BEA luncheon Feb. 14, says ethics is something an executive has to do everyday, in both his words and actions.
