Superior Uniform profits double

SEMINOLE — Superior Uniform Group Inc. (symbol: SGC) earned $3.8 million in profits in 2010, up 94% from the prior year. Net sales grew just 3%, from $102.8 million to $105.9 million.

Despite the increase in revenues, the Seminole-based clothing manufacturer managed to reduce the cost of its sold goods by roughly $1.2 million. That decrease was small from a percentage point (costs were down just 2% overall), but the savings played a huge roll in expanding company profits.

“Although the current economic environment continued to hamper sales, we were able to realize the fruits of our hard work by improving our cost structure,” explained CEO Michael Benstock.
