BistroMD meals used in MTV's MADE show


Naples-based BistroMD's healthy weight-loss meals were used in an episode of MTV's “MADE” TV show to help Emma, a 19-year-old, 295-pound South Florida teenager, so she could participate in a plus-sized model fashion show.


“We are pleased to help Emma achieve her healthy weight-loss goal,” Caroline J. Cederquist, said a bariatric physician and creator of BistroMD. “So far she has lost over 55 pounds, nearly 20% of her start weight and this change will help her live a healthier life.”


In addition to BistroMD meals, Emma also received free dietitian support from the company plus worked with a personal trainer and life coach, singer and actress Joanne Borgella. Also, BistroMD has introduced a meal plan line based on the popular book The 17 Day Diet.



HealthPlan Services partners with Beazley Accident & Health


Tampa-based HealthPlan Services will provide business process services to Beazley Accident & Health Insurance, of Minneapolis.


The local company will facilitate sales, case-level underwriting, online enrollment and integration of multiple products for streamlined quoting, billing, claims and member retention services for Beazley's customers and agents.


Beazley Accident & Health Insurance is a division of Beazley Insurance Co. Inc., which writes $1.75 billion in annual premiums.


HealthPlan Services is an independent provider of insurance and managed-care industry services and technology.



West Central Wireless adding Interop MMS services


Fort Myers-based Interop Technologies will provide its hosted Multimedia Message Service Center solutions to customers of San Antonio-based West Central Wireless.


Interop enables customers to combine photos with text, audio, images, videos and animation to send to others.


The service features an MMS Composer to manipulate pictures with effects and audio clips for distribution to other mobile devices, MMS usage information, reporting statistics, and accounting information.


Interop Technologies provides wireless solutions for messaging, device management, and connectivity gateways for wireless and broadband communications network operators.


West Central Wireless provides home GSM mobile telephone network service in a 26-county area of Texas. It also provides high-speed wireless DSL Internet under the company West Central Net.



Max Media Group Inc. buys Members Autolink


Palm Harbor-based Max Media Group Inc. has purchased the car-buying service Members Autolink.


“We have been looking for an opportunity to get into the 'every day car market,'” James Grady, president and CEO of Max Media Group Inc., said in a press release. “Autolink will add instant revenue. We continue to pursue acquisitions while adding revenues.”


On the Gulf Coast, Members Autolink works with Achieva Credit Union, Service 1st Credit Union, Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union, Tampa Postal Federal Credit Union, Florida West Coast Credit Union, Pinellas Federal Credit Union and West Coast Federal Employees Credit Union.


Credit union members use the Members Autolink service to locate, purchase, finance and insure a vehicle while the institution oversees the process.


Max Media Group operates such high-end product Web sites as babelation.com, hotautoweb.com, hotrvweb.com and hotboatweb.com.



Proper Power & Energy receives interest from financiers


Proper Power & Energy Inc. of Tampa has submitted $10 million private placement memorandums to two independent financing groups that are seeking to invest in domestic oil and gas production.


“The timing to acquire oil and gas properties while gas prices are low couldn't be better,” Andrew J. Kacic, president of Proper Power & Energy, said in a press release. “Additionally, the availability of this funding for developing [our] Kentucky and Utah oil prospects will accelerate revenues and leasehold acreage growth. We anticipate feedback from both of the groups before the end of this month.”


Proper Power & Energy is an independent exploration and production company. Its operations in the two states encompass more than 11,000 acres.



Mangrove Employer Services buys Chicago-area benefits provider


Mangrove Employer Services has purchased employee benefits provider CHC Cobrasource Inc., of Grayslake, Ill., including its proprietary COBRA administration platform mycobrasource.com.


“We were looking to buy a company that specializes in providing COBRA services,” says Rich Cangemi, CEO at Mangrove, said in a press release.
