Dais Analytic Corp. received a $680,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Research Project Agency — Energy. The grant will help the Odessa-based firm commercialize its water-based heating and cooling products.

Dais' heating, ventilating and air conditiong (HVAC) technology, called NanoAir, may reduce energy use and carbon emissions by more than 50% in most standard HVAC equipment, a company release claimed.

Beyond boosting business development efforts, Dais CEO Tim Tangredi says the grant award sends a larger message about the nation's interest in investing domestically in alternative energy-focused companies.

Dais Analytic Corp. announced its intent to hire 1,000 additional manufacturing employees in April.
