Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Co. acquired Impact Education, a Fort Myers-based company.

Impact has been a profitable business since 2004, generating $4.5 million in revenues in 2009, according to Adam Hall, president and CEO. With this latest transaction, Hall will become president of SkillsTutor, one of Impact's most successful education products.

This year, Hall was named to the Business Review's 40 Under 40 list of successful Gulf Coast entrepreneurs.

Based in Boston, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Co. was founded in 1832, and has roughly 3,500 employees.
