HMA nails healthy hospital purchase

The recession hasn't spared the hospital industry, if a recent deal by Health Management Associates is any indication.

Naples-based hospital operator HMA acquired the 413-bed Wuesthoff Health System for $152 million. But on a net basis, Wuesthoff generates $290 million in annual revenues.

With terms like these, it's no surprise that relatively strong hospital companies like HMA are back on the acquisition path.
