TRC buys product line

Technology Research Corp. acquired a line of motorized cord and hose reels from TDI Products Inc., an Atlantic Beach company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but TRC had cash to spend, ending September with more than $9 million in liquidity, financial records show.

The reels are marketed under the Shoreline Reels trademark, and are designed for use by recreational vehicles, boats, and other vehicles. The transaction gives TRC ownership of that trademark, along with inventories, customer relationships, and intellectual property associated with the products.

TRC President Owen Farren said the purchase complemented TRC's “specialty vehicle strategy.” The Tampa-based company, which earned $9.2 million in third quarter revenues, also develops power management systems.

Comments from TDI President Tom Caldwell showed signs of an ongoing partnership. “The synergies make this an excellent partnership,” Caldwell said in a release.
