One in every 96 housing units in Cape Coral-Fort Myers received a foreclosure notice in October. That's the second-highest per-housing-unit rate in the nation, only behind Las Vegas-Paradise, Nev.
Florida ranked 2nd among states, with one in every 155 housing units receiving a foreclosure notice statewide. The state's rate is 2.5 times greater than the national average, according to RealtyTrac. Again, only Nevada was higher, with one in 79 housing units being foreclosed.
Florida's statewide rate is roughly 10% higher than it was a year ago. October marked the second-straight month of year-over-year increases in foreclosure activity.
