Third quarter revenues ticked up slightly for SRI Surgical Express Inc., the Sarasota-based medical supplier. The company earned $24.8 million, up $704,000 from a year ago.

The bottom-line result was a negligible profit of $21,000 — marking SRI's first profitable quarter in five years. The firm lost $1.8 million in the third quarter a year ago.

Over the first nine months of 2010, the company has lost $1.8 million, with revenues of $74.5 million. A year ago, SRI lost $3.4 million on $72.7 million in revenues. The company is challenged by a number of increasing costs, including those related to fuel, labor, and vehicle leasing.

SRI Surgical provides central processing and supply chain management services to hospitals and surgery centers in 25 states across the U.S.
